it's wild to me that people will live their lives guided by their reading of a *translation* of a document without ever engaging with the original language or any of the details of the translation process

yeah this always confused me as an ortho jew this was literally what i did most of the day get veeery particular about how to translate in the original language god. wrote. us. a book. so yeah we just argue all day about why he used two words when one could do tricketc
