there’s a whole thread from awhile ago about how people with ADHD lowkey don’t have object permanence and i was a little insulted by it at first but after a few months i think i just buy it now

I wonder to what extent ADHD is about externalized memory. If you can’t see it, you can’t think about it, so everything is out in plain sight and they have to scan/dart around physically, and in non-home environments it looks like “distractability” (to be clear, I am not ADHD)

It seems like this but without object permanence you can't even use language, much less abstractions It makes a lot more sense if you conceive of ADHD as a kind of globally insecure attachment to objects You're aware they have permanence in reality, but can't be sure where
