i read a book about lie detection by a former FBI interrogator and it’s been awhile but iirc the gist of it was “you can tell whether people are stressed out / tense but you can’t necessarily tell if it’s because they’re lying or something else”
i think generally we can tell whether people are being dishonest, which is not quite the same as lying, but it’s difficult to really confront how much of the time this is. i feel a visceral sense of believing what people say maybe 5% of the time or less
when someone is really telling the truth in a specific heart-centered way their voice changes and you can really hear it. it gets stronger and more resonant. the *rest* of the time, though… :/
