earlier in this thread, i made a distinction between self and other metta, which can be a helpful frame. another way of approaching this is to collapse that binary, and experience non-dual love, which is really, divinely lovely

meditation prompt: next time u see ur buddy, smile and say 'my buddy :) :) :)' to them, slowly and effusively. notice what happens in your chest when you say it, and how it changes as they hear it. play around with emphasis on certain syllables, for example 'my budyyyyyyyy :)' twitter.com/hormeze/status…

You can recall others saying your name to you with affection and sort of copy and paste that emotional tone in to your own vocalization

Lol remember dale carnegie? 'how to win friends and influence people' Main thing I remember from that book is that people fucking love to hear their own name, which I have found to be at least somewhat true Why not use this for yourself

You know when you're with a loved one, and you kind of, snuggle deeper into them, even though you're already cuddled up? You can do that with yourself. Wriggle closer to your heart, one onion level deeper It's my favorite metta move right now

guided a metta meditation for some friends last night and improvised a frame that was a big hit- imagine your heart as a tiny little puppy belly
