the fact that psychology majors don’t have a reputation as being particularly charismatic or good at relationships or even at managing people is a pretty damning indictment of either academic psychology or college or both

During covid, I needed something to occupy my lonely evening and weekends so I got 3/4 through a clinical psych MA. My biggest takeaway was that the field is deeply obsessed with understanding suffering but is in many ways, and for many reasons, not well equipped to alleviate it

Solutions focused therapy was a bright spot in my education, though. And I think learning it’s interventions has made me a better manager
