alright so, it is time. this is going to be a long, winding, rambling thread. i posted yesterday about demons existing and this interesecting with the world of psychedelia. ive posted about this in the past a little and there is always a huge response, people are very into it.

I’ve had this conversation with my mom many times. She’s convinced that any form of spiritual practice outside of the Catholic Church may open you up to demonic influences. After my first psychedelic experiences I told her “the only demons I know are all in my own head”.

For a long time I didn’t really believe in the concept of evil, I thought that there are no evil people only misguided, and if you approach them with an open loving heart they will eventually open up and stop doing harm. Most of my life experience so far confirmed this.

I was thinking maybe we need a “nonmoral” sense of good and evil, like they are not essential deep motivations to be praised and scolded maximally, but rather impersonal environmental habitual circumstantial phenomena to be studied and reckoned with

that formulation doesn’t really get at what I mean but it’s similar to how the concept of ADHD is a way to reframe a “sinful” person as someone who’s pulled in weird ways by the patterns of their brain; consider that some estimate ADHD prevalence in prisons at 50%
