An unexpected downside of gaining a reputation as a wife and a mother (hopefully positive) is that I do not feel I can tweet about my missteps and my failures.
It leaves me feeling choked.

I agree. She's very brave and helpful with her discourse. This leads me to believe it is my own sense of shame holding me back.

(i also think it's worth noting that people say a lot of dumb unsolicited shit to her in response and i support her willingness to put up with it gracefully and also think it's a reasonable non-shame reason not to do it)

I think that people making thoughtful and/or funny posts about their mistakes have a lot more affordance than they might think
but you do still get some bullshit in response and that's a real cost

selene out here being gracious in response to advice that is barely more sophisticated than "have you considered naps" when she's thinking out loud about complex difficult problems of motherhood i would have gotten suspended long ago
