sipser’s introduction to the theory of computation helpfully includes, before every proof, a brief summary of the important ideas in the proof. it’s such a good idea and literally no math textbook i’ve ever read has done it

iirc he also comments on steps in the proof like “this is a routine verification” “this is the most important step, pay careful attention” which is also amazing and also which no math textbooks ever do. i tried to do this in some of my blog posts
