sometimes when i feel good enough around a group of people something changes about my vision and everyone’s faces look softer and more detailed. this is exactly what happened when i took oxytocin so now i know that means oxytocin was produced

this happened to me once at an authentic relating event in texas in 2018 or so and i was shocked. the before / after difference was so stark. it seemed like before i had been too nervous / anxious to really settle into the group. and it was sobering to notice that was my default

still not done wilding out about reddit autistic oxytocin guy btw. i’ve been haphazardly collecting oxytocin stories, maybe 10ish so far, and 1 out of 10 was a big transformative experience like this one. could be worse!

if oxytocin is related to the social deficits of autism i wonder if this partly explains rationalist cuddle puddle culture - like the oxytocin generated by the cuddling partly counteracts what otherwise amounts to an oxytocin deficit? mysteries

one thing i wanna know more about is the only person who had a big experience is also the only person who bought it in powder form and then dissolved in water to spray so idk if ordering the sprays runs a bigger risk of degradation during delivery or what

Oxytocin is just one hormone implicated in social learning. I think it’s obvious that if you spray the hormone, it’ll run up & down the vagus nerve & do stg in the brain. But I don’t see much difference between this & say, ABA which uses v simple learning via rewards mechanism…

… by the same token, you could experiment with dopamine on ADHD & autistic people since we know there is disordered use of this hormone. But the question is, how do you lay it down as learning, not temporary effect? Here the ventromedial cortex is implicated (Damasio stuff)…
