this happened to me once at an authentic relating event in texas in 2018 or so and i was shocked. the before / after difference was so stark. it seemed like before i had been too nervous / anxious to really settle into the group. and it was sobering to notice that was my default

still not done wilding out about reddit autistic oxytocin guy btw. i’ve been haphazardly collecting oxytocin stories, maybe 10ish so far, and 1 out of 10 was a big transformative experience like this one. could be worse!

if oxytocin is related to the social deficits of autism i wonder if this partly explains rationalist cuddle puddle culture - like the oxytocin generated by the cuddling partly counteracts what otherwise amounts to an oxytocin deficit? mysteries

I think I find the same person more/less physically attractive moment to moment as my feelings about them fluctuate, as in I literally see different facial features

I see this, depending on my mood, looking at my own face in the mirror. Sometimes I actually like what I see (good mood), sometimes I really, really, really don’t (bad mood). My face actually looks different, it doesn’t feel like just my opinion changing. Weird.

Huh. When I took oxytocin (which was prescribed me for a physical condition), it had basically no psychological or cognitive effects for me, only physical ones...
