the weird thing about pears i will never understand is only one kind is good (anjou) and only when very ripe and the others are all affronts to the majesty of god in comparison

It grieves me that you apparently don't know the Comice, in season for about six weeks around December. Hunt it out. I am a pear man, and it makes D'anjou look like trash.
