I can't back this up with evidence but I sincerely believe that at least some portion of intelligence is correlated with bravery The more you master your fear, the more you can competently work with objects and concepts that are taboo or otherwise frightening to consider.

this is something i was consistently frustrated i couldn't explain to the rationalists but clearly experienced repeatedly myself. emotional work expands the range of thoughts you allow yourself to have, it straightforwardly makes you smarter
