i think one of the psychologically healthiest things i could’ve done as a teenager was get really into writing self-insert wish-fulfillment fanfic; at least then i would’ve been able to admit to myself what my wishes were

instead i was in a livejournal community that criticized and made fun of bad harry potter fanfic, which was lots of fun at the time but in retrospect maybe explains why i mysteriously never got around to writing any of my own fic 🧐
