no wait you're a musician a musical metaphor is more appropriate - you can sing together using your real voices but still singing the same song

so "git gud at social interaction" becomes "learn how to jam well with others" and "stop masking be your true self" becomes "learn how to sing with your real voice" and now they no longer contradict

it can even be *easier* to jam with other people if you aren't putting extra effort into pretending you have a different voice than you do; the attention and energy that was taking up can be redirected into listening and getting into sync with others

i guess not just pretending you have a different voice but pretending you are a different musician; when you jam with other people you're still doing it *as yourself*, you're making the kind of music you like to make etc.
and, you're also becoming a group consciousness
