was feeling weirdly tired and sad and wanting to scroll on twitter forever and then i remembered i ate a bag of chips (cooked in seed oils) today as an experiment
motherfucker welp that’s my experimental result

I’ve narrowed down to like four meals. I didn’t want to believe in the diet-everything-else connection but became too obvious as I got more sensitive to things

it’s incredibly inconvenient for going out with friends and stuff but i feel so much better now. i only really have 2 meals, hoping to expand my repertoire soon 😅

15 years ago I would have thought you were part of a bullshit lefty conspiracy theory but I've since experienced similar amazing physical/mental health changes by controlling what I eat. For me gluten, dairy, and nuts (unfortunately) are the enemy. Pho is good for casual dining.

cutting gluten and dairy have been big for me too. i cut out seeds and nuts as an experiment a few months ago (b/c grimhood mentioned it) and unsure what the effects were but eating pistachios recently felt bad so i stopped again

Pistachios/macadamias have least impact on me but I rarely partake. Nuts tend to trigger migraine but not every time. Egg too (I'm meat-eating vegan). Gluten is inflammatory in many ways incl making joints swell. Dairy gives ambient pain, esp back/neck. Peanuts make me swell.

I think that talking about it to give perspective is helpful but I think there's also unknown body chemistry that plays a role so everyone has to be an empiricist too. Stress also exacerbates ime.
For me totally worth it. I feel better now than in my 20s, have nicer skin too.

yeah, god only knows how specific gut issues or gut flora compositions affect things too, and who knows what else ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ no substitute for personal experimentation here, for sure. and stress exacerbates for me too!
