ice + massage today 🧊
surprise, rubbing a bodypart w ice *floats spasms & knots to the surface* - obvious to touch!
blood flushes outta areas of healthy circulatn
& dense collagen cross-links in bound areas rigid right up.
I’ve never felt that b4, yay new sensations ❄️🔥🌷

as of this week, I’ve given 100 hours of bodywork!
as celebration - AMA 🥳
I’m a former mathematician & machine learning engineer turned much happier massage student - and next month, massage therapist.

omg today in geriatric massage class - we used broad flat strokes of exceptionally light pressure, in layers: first relating to skin-only, then sinking a little more into the fascia, then finally barely muscle.

in those first two layers - just skin & fascia - some quality of sensuality and attunement and 'dropping the fuck in' and holding and being held, rlly clicked for me.
I'm not geriatric but still LOVED receiving & giving. different from craniosacral and also still light touch.

^there's something here; I'm bookmarking this tactile thread to find & explore again in my future massages. feels diff than muscle work.
our oriental medicine teacher offhandedly mentioned "fascia are responsible for your sense of where you end & begin"& I intuit that's related.

^^ I’m so glad I bookmarked this tactile thread!
I’ve given 3more hr massage w it, & it’s become a lovely sensory paintbrush. my hands unwind tension by listening & participating, rather than efforting 😮
& it’s so fun for me, I love doing it. I suspect I found my styleee 😍

I also celebrate this bc via standard swedish massage - especially “deep pressure, get in there” style - I usually feel sore after 90m; that’s the longest massage I would do.
but this new way? (wow what shall I call it) I could do 3hr in one go ez
honestly maybe no upper bound

I've noticed, in the three people I've tried it on:
when I drop in, I'll feel the muscle pulsing as it releases! open q for me: is this the 'therapeutic pulse' described in craniosacral, or is this perhaps just me sensing deeply enough to feel their heartbeat in this muscle?

my massage school final exam + graduation is this week 😍
today I’m studying for it. comment and I’ll respond with which muscle you remind me of, and why.
(( list of muscles linked for context ))

name suggestion: pick anythinggg off this list of muscles in the human body.
one day I’ll have a school of goldfish in a tank and name them all coracobrachialis, infraspinatus, lateral pterygoid & medial pterygoid, psoas major, deltoid, diaphragm etc etc

hello welcome 👋
you remind me of longissimus - the only muscle that spans the entire length of the spine and also attaches at the skull.
whatever you got goin' on definitely reflects conditions at both pelvis and head. also it's got lines of communication open to all the ribs
