the only thing i don't like about reading impro is that keith johnstone will say some shit like "okay in order to do this technique the first step is to relax" and i'm like. keith. buddy. how the fuck do i do that

"If I get you to lie down, close your eyes and relax, and report what your imagination gives you, then you'll probably go into a deep state of absorption" - jesus fuck keith how relaxed were british people in the 60s and 70s that they could apparently all do this

i don't think i've ever experienced this awake even on psychedelics. "the experiences will seem to be happening to you"-level vividness i've only ever experienced in hypnagogia while on the edge of falling asleep or waking up, usually not even in my dreams

i'm actually curious if you can comment on this b/c i assume you've led people through stuff like this before; how easily do the people you work with get to this level of absorption / vividness?
you won’t regret it
Curious, have you much theater experience? there's a LOT of unspoken relaxation and meditative exercises that are water for those with even just a year of Theatre education / maybe slightly longer for those with only production experience.
It's like water to a fish.

Seems to me like a couple things are going on here,
1, hyperstition. Say something is easy, it tends to become easier for the people listening
2, skill. I couldn’t easily drop into images when I started, it came over time,

3, from the way you talk about it you may just be on the end of the spectrum where it’s a bit harder for you
