the only thing i don't like about reading impro is that keith johnstone will say some shit like "okay in order to do this technique the first step is to relax" and i'm like. keith. buddy. how the fuck do i do that

"If I get you to lie down, close your eyes and relax, and report what your imagination gives you, then you'll probably go into a deep state of absorption" - jesus fuck keith how relaxed were british people in the 60s and 70s that they could apparently all do this

i don't think i've ever experienced this awake even on psychedelics. "the experiences will seem to be happening to you"-level vividness i've only ever experienced in hypnagogia while on the edge of falling asleep or waking up, usually not even in my dreams

i'm actually curious if you can comment on this b/c i assume you've led people through stuff like this before; how easily do the people you work with get to this level of absorption / vividness?

Does tpot ever do this kinda thing with each other? Pretty viable as voice only practice. Sounds fun!

Practically speaking, relaxation is more like a directional intention than an achievement prerequisite, and part of the technology that makes it work is having someone else handle the frame-building while you imagine, get immersed bit by bit.

some stuff you need to compile into your own machine code and people can't be more helpful than "in previous modules, you created the 'relax' function, now invoke that function to..."
