"lmao" is still fine, they'll have to pry "lmao" out of my cold dead fingers, but pointed out to me years ago that i used "lol" mostly to undercut myself and soft-pedal my ideas and recently i stopped feeling a need to do that
+1 for traveling around with a hypothetical on your shoulder saying “what’s that all about?”= +1 for leveling up in general

This is a really useful observation.
Reminds me of "tells", from poker. Most of us have them, I suspect, about things we're insecure about, or fear. And I'd guess it's useful to be aware of our own tells.
