i've adjusted back and forth my use of emoji for awhile, went through a period where i used a ton and less now. it really just comes down to being honest for me; if i feel excited i try to communicate that one way or another, if i don't feel excited i don't, etc.
text is kinda unique in that you actually have a much bigger opportunity to pause and try to edit and filter yourself than you do in spoken conversation, which imo you should not take 😛
