re: magnesium: two months later and it's hard to unequivocally rec because i've been doing a ton of stuff but somewhere between magnesium, sunlight, walks, dopamine detox, and probably social stuff i seem to have stopped having strong feelings of grief and fear all the time

here is my tentative recommendation for magnesium glycinate so far: it appears to be making me more anxious but in a good way specifically i suspect the anxiety is buried psychological material that i haven't felt safe enough to work with coming up

still getting little triggers but they're milder and easier to deal with, haven't had to bawl my eyes out or scream my throat hoarse in quite awhile it's nice but also confusing because now i have to figure out new things to do 😅

the magnesium plausibly provided momentum making all the other stuff i've been doing easier. everything generally feels easier and less scary to do now. going to the pool was easy instead of too anxiety-inducing like when i first had the idea months ago

i can't find it because he went private at some point which apparently permanently wrecks your tweet searchability but said something about how magnesium made his mental health "so stable it's a little boring" and yeah it's kinda like that 😅

i guess i thought this was obvious for some reason but *also*: for most of january and february i was constantly processing a ton of emotions that kept coming up, sometimes triggered by the magnesium (!?). bio-emotive, IFS, IPF, SE, expanded awareness were the heavy hitters

i think that put me in a good position to relax and open up wrt b/c i wasn't holding a ton of emotions about other stuff, and then vibecamp itself was also both really soothing and really energizing so: hard to say how much was due to *just* the magnesium

so i am much more on board this train than i used to be, but i'll add that a year or two ago i was also too depressed and anxious to do any of this stuff, and i needed some way to bootstrap to being able to do it, which for me was self-therapy

It feels like we are right at the cusp of this moment where people give up the fads and learn that good relationships, time in nature, physical movement, and a well rounded diet are actually all you need to solve mental/physical/spiritual problems. twitter.com/QiaochuYuan/st…
