main things i worry about: 1) i've driven very little on highways lately and i don't feel as comfortable with them as i used to. when i can't read the signs fast enough to understand how to take exits and stuff i get freaked out :/ not sure how to deal with this

(there are some parts of the highways in seattle where i swear the signs give directly contradictory directions about what to do, or at least i got really confused at one point and had to freak out in the car afterwards to calm down)

2) i've also never had to deal with stuff like flat tires, getting stuck in the snow in the middle of nowhere, etc, and i'm worried about my ability to handle situations like that. i guess learn how to call AAA and be prepared to walk for awhile worst case??? anything else?

Not driving faster than you’re comfortable, regarding the signs. And having enough time margin in case you need to make a U-turn. Most long-distance travel is easy with a few moments of stress near big intersections. And if you get stuck, most country people are super friendly

I just use my phone so I don’t have to worry about reading signs. And for non-highway driving, I actually prefer Apple Maps because it shows stop signs and streetlights

Trick to stay in the middle of the lane on the highway: Line up the center line on the hood of you car with the white line on the right side of the lane. Read every sign, and try to predict the actions of the cars around you. Know them before they happen.
