we used to have this big pokemon larp where our pokemon had all these technological enhancements - a liquid metal flareon, a bullet train gyarados. they’d have gigantic battles in the sky like megazords

i never really found a new outlet for that kind of creative energy afterwards. i guess it could’ve gone into fanart or fanfic but i never did either :/
middle school i got really into like neopets and yu-gi-oh message boards instead

in middle school every lunch break, we would play basketball. First day of high school freshman year I was raring to go.. when I asked got a “why would you suggest smthg so stupid” look from my friend. instead we ate.. then hung out & tried to look cool

I re-discovered some of it through having a kid to literally do it with like "Dad let's go outside and have a Pokemon battle with made-up Pokemon". And also through getting back into DMing in D&D.
