some of this i remember my parents telling me but not the bit about 楚 meaning "clear, pretty and beautiful" although i'll take it
trying to figure out if i count as a well-dressed woman who aspires to do great things, live with a dream and make an uplifting impact in life

Whatever the etymology sad to inform you that 翘楚 is not gendered nowadays which means it gets used more on men

well that would make sense with me then but every other qiaochu i know of (which is 2, not that many) is a woman actually
