speaking of which here's a data visualization i would absolutely *love* to have: i want a twitter genealogy like an online map of who got who onto twitter / tpot, e.g. my "parent" was . it'd be basically a tree, kinda like this:

now i'm wondering whether the organizers are gonna release a bunch of data visualizations like pornhub or okcupid used to

idk how it would best make sense to either collect or visualize this data, hoping to attract some people with actual expertise to do this project (possibly with crowdfunding?), but i'm thinking a website where people input their "parent(s)" and the graph is dynamically visualized

also maybe people could add a little text snippet of how the story of how their "parent" got them onto twitter / tpot went down and it could pop up if you click on the edge linking them to their parent? that could be real cute

I got on twitter because I was reading Buddhism for Vampires, reached the end, and found out chapman was active on twitter so I figured I’d log on and see if there was any update. no updates ever, but I got tpot out of it at least

Make a google form asking for your twitter name and the name (or names) of who got you into TPOT, and then post the dataset publicly and somebody will probably do it for you

oh that could work. i was thinking about trying to persuade someone to make a website that could handle the data collection too; doing it this way would be asking for less work but also it wouldn't be dynamically updatable
