I think the male version just doesn't take the "domination" form, more like "seduction", "manipulation". My knowledge here is incomplete but it seems the typical Marvel male superhero never really seems weak to subtle forces, but that dynamic shows up in horror, sci-fi.

being seduced is really hot though ๐Ÿค” i can't think of any fictional depiction of a man being seduced by a woman that is scary as opposed to basically really hot. i haven't watched the movie where scarlett johansson kills dudes though but i bet that's still hot

i think ultimately men don't fear being seduced or manipulated by women anywhere near as much as they fear being abandoned and ignored by them (i don't at least)

Yeah, that makes sense, I can definitely understand rejection/abandonment as a primary fear. Seduction seems less of the central figure of the fear vs. what comes after - siren's song leading to doom, Fatal Attraction woman going crazy... both start out hot!

Was there any gut punch to Caleb's fate here? That takes the form of seduction/manipulation to me, and I feel like I remember some guys being creeped out by it. Nathan creeped me out immediately

don't think so but there aren't any male ones either, i'm not sure how to feel that way about a fictional character ๐Ÿง i'm intimidated by plenty of irl women tho main exception re: fictional characters is oscar isaac in ex machina, genuinely creeped the shit out of me
