question: what do you do when you're in a conversation with someone who is really not-present?
I find myself checking out, smiling, but also being less responsive. They can keep on talking. Do you have or know of strategies to note what's going on and potentially re-focus?

hmm depends what you want i guess? could be as simple as “hey you seem a little distracted, what’s on your mind?” or if that seems unlikely to help, maybe some other kind of pattern interrupt, like “hey wanna talk outside / on a walk?”
Hmm, directly addressing it is a good point. I’m thinking of a conversation I had together with two friends who were surprisingly unpresent (not their norm). I found myself wondering why and eventually just let the energies play out, but am wondering what & if I could have said
