learning some stuff from the responses to this, haven't had time to go through them all but one thing stands out to me so far which is: why in GOD'S NAME does anyone think it's a good idea to FORCE MINORS INTO THERAPY, jesus FUCKING christ

do y'all actually know people who've been in therapy for like 5+ years and it doesn't seem to be helping them very much? i keep hearing about these people but i don't actually know any. what kind of therapy do they do?

therapy only works if you want to be there because you are the only source of real change; you have to actually want it and do it. if you don't want to do it you shouldn't be in therapy. if someone else is making you do it they are literally trying to brainwash you. what the FUCK

i suspect bad therapy experiences can cause a *lot* of damage in a similar way to cults; someone continually trying to fuck with your ability to sense-make and meaning-make, and asserting the superiority of their senses and meanings over yours. damages trust in self and other

Also I am very stressed out on behalf of Americans about how much they CAN'T say in therapy. To me it was indicated that if I uh k-word someone and then get caught my therapist could be forced to give some sort of statement, they are NOT forced to turn me in for anything
