do y'all actually know people who've been in therapy for like 5+ years and it doesn't seem to be helping them very much? i keep hearing about these people but i don't actually know any. what kind of therapy do they do?

I was in therapy for most of ages 14-21. the last two years I had a solid CBT guy but the rest was actively harmful

possibly my first interaction with a therapist, definitely the first after developing a tiny bit of trust, was to mention having taken acid, and she told me if I was still doing it she had to tell my parents and CPS. so I just didn't talk about anything, as much as possible

i would have, in her shoes, just shut my mouth. push comes to shove she could've said I didn't tell her. laws are dumb, do what's right, if you aren't willing to risk anything for a kid then don't work with them
