i recently finished rewatching all of brooklyn 99 and there's a specific sad feeling i get from it that is like... the characters in that show individually have huge flaws but they don't need to completely fix them because the other characters naturally compensate for them

amy starts out neurotic and in many ways stays neurotic, charles starts out... uh... charles and in many ways stays charles, jake starts out happy-go-lucky and impulsive and actually grows up a lot but never completely loses that spark

everyone grows into their strengths while balancing out each other's weaknesses. and i don't know that i've ever been in a social environment that i felt worked like this 😕 mostly because i think i congregate in places where other people have the same weaknesses as me 😅

Are you the guy who doesn’t have to work anywhere? Because a good team at work is like this. Of course everyone has their faults, but people pick up each other’s slack. And those skilled in xyz get their time to shine when that skill is needed—which is why they were hired!

And a team that’s been together longer tends to know how to balance each other out even better. Can’t “fix” anyone’s personality quirks so just have to accept them. Which people should be doing, anyway! It’s kind of nice when you are in such a team!

:( But maybe one day you will! Not saying it’s a euphoric utopia, and it still involves being surrounded by quirks to be tolerated, but there’s definitely a feeling of heartwarming-ness relating to the fact of the team’s cohesion (esp after big projects are completed).
