It’s amazing how much a little encouragement will motivate people yet at the same time how few people actually spend any time doing this

I think even if the stuff you write to begin with is garbage, it's still helpful in practicing the writing habit and getting "this is garbage in several specific ways" feedback, maybe from yourself, helps you write better garbage

Everything you write (at first) will be garbage. You'll probably have a style that mimicks your favorite authors to some extent until you find your own voice. Join a critique group like You'll get more out of doing critiques than receiving them at first.

writing garbage is an important part of the process, and you shouldn't miss out on it! nothing you write will bite you, but every bit will make you better

Load your story with irony, lots and lots of painful irony! And remember, "truth is stranger than fiction" sometimes! So if, your story seems strange, remember it is fiction and non-fiction might be more so! BTW... can you cite this quote👆😉?

2 years ago I signed up for a writing course I stumbled upon on Twitter. Best investment I've ever made. If you've been wanting to start writing, this is the best place to begin. Registration is open for the Spring Cohort 🙃👇🏼 learn.fortelabs.co/a/aff_qj8q71td

Your observational stuff, “being described is precursor…” “type of guy” is great. I come back to it regularly. You could journal out that kind of stuff but swap third person pronouns, and it’ll be solid
