i have the encanto rental for two more days including today so i think i'll rewatch it in spanish today like i did with coco for a e s t h e t i c s and then rewatch it in english one more time tomorrow

spanish encanto was a good idea. it's definitely harder for me to emotionally connect to the lyrics of the songs (so i'm rewatching each one in english) but i like listening to the spanish dialogue. i like julieta's spanish voice actress much better but felix's less

oh, this came up with coco too: i would *much* rather hear someone say "la musica" with the soft s than "music" with the z

step 3. for added effect, and/or if you can find a scene that makes you tear up but not a specific line, rewind the movie and play the scene again to see if it still makes you cry, while repeating steps 1 and 2a and 2b

quick review of watching encanto in spanish: it was easier to connect to the *colombianness* of the story, the fact that it has a real historical context that is *not mine*, and that was interesting. a few dialogue lines are imo better and better delivered in spanish

the main issue is that it was, as i expected, harder to connect emotionally to the songs, so i did end up replaying all of them in english to reconnect to them and that was nice and fun and didn't really disrupt the flow of the movie. would recommend!
