so i'm listening to a podcast with an obviously brilliant and quite knowledgeable meditation teacher, but he just said that no matter how wonderful the day's experiences will be, it's dreadful to be roused from sleep because unconsciousness is great, and... no ?? ???? what?

the more manic i am the earlier i naturally want to wake up and the more i look forward to all the things i could do while awake so maybe the dude is depressed 🤔

but a meditation guy who knows a bunch of jhanas could never be depressed, what are you talking about ... idk if he's depressed, maybe he just really likes unconsciousness, whatever makes you happy my guy, but it's just weird to me??????

I voted in agreement with this guy on poll before I saw this - I’m not depressed and I am able to face challenges in life most of the time etc but the transition itself from asleep to awake is almost always unpleasant (not from lack of sleep either)

It’s possible ive lost touch with pre-kid state, I don’t remember not disliking waking up even when I try. However for 6 full years now I’ve woken literally to the sound of 1 or 2 people literally sobbing so that doesn’t do much for the conditioning
