I'm getting fucking sick of the word "trauma", despite or perhaps because it is central to a lot of my models & coaching work

people use the word to refer to several things so maybe it's good to take the opportunity to have separate words for those things: i think there are
1) confusing experiences
2) extreme adaptations to those experiences

i sort of regret using the word "trauma" so much on twitter in the past, i ran into friction as a result which i think partly came from assuming "trauma" involves really *bad* experiences. the thing i want(ed) to talk about is more about really *confusing* experiences

mark has this phrase "too fast, too surprising, too painful, too confusing" that i get a lot out of. like something happens that is "too much" in some way and it doesn't get "properly digested" and something else happens instead

i like something in the direction of "extreme adaptations" or "extreme strategies" at least in a technical sense but they don't really evoke the felt experience of the thing at all (neither does "trauma" tbf)
i use "stuff" or "baggage" sometimes just to avoid the word "trauma"
