I'm getting fucking sick of the word "trauma", despite or perhaps because it is central to a lot of my models & coaching work So, help a girl out, twitter brainstorm-- Best replacement words or phrases for "trauma" GO

people use the word to refer to several things so maybe it's good to take the opportunity to have separate words for those things: i think there are 1) confusing experiences 2) extreme adaptations to those experiences

i sort of regret using the word "trauma" so much on twitter in the past, i ran into friction as a result which i think partly came from assuming "trauma" involves really *bad* experiences. the thing i want(ed) to talk about is more about really *confusing* experiences

mark has this phrase "too fast, too surprising, too painful, too confusing" that i get a lot out of. like something happens that is "too much" in some way and it doesn't get "properly digested" and something else happens instead

i like something in the direction of "extreme adaptations" or "extreme strategies" at least in a technical sense but they don't really evoke the felt experience of the thing at all (neither does "trauma" tbf) i use "stuff" or "baggage" sometimes just to avoid the word "trauma"
