People use consent to mean (at least) two things: a tool, and the thing the tool is supposed to accomplish. I think we need different words for the two things, and suggest "consent" for the tool and "participation" for the thing it's for.

participation sounds to me like what people gesture at when they say "enthusiastic consent", sounds v similar also to play, presentness. i feel myself resisting this argumnet as a ~complete study of consent, but i won't go into that bc by now yr thoughts have probably changed?

and when i say complete i don't mean exhaustive, i mean the level of abstraction i think.

yeah i tend to think little of sovereignty where the fabric of social reality starts creeping in. responsibilities on that scale change, it’s not just about you anymore. if i catch your drift.
