I thought I would get through Mercury Rx unscathed and then the universe delivered me the ultimate fuck you and my hearing aid broke today.

Being at the mercy of other people is deeply triggering. I can't even go to work because I can't hear without my aids.

Can't make an appt with audiology until I get a referral from my GP. GP almost made me wait on a referral until I went to see him for an appointment (tf are you going to do!?). Referral took all day yesterday only to be for the wrong place.

Meanwhile every step of this process requires phone calls that I can't hear and a bunch of medical/audiology/insurance practitioners that don't see this as urgent.

I finally got an appointment and some loaner hearing aids. They're amazing and the technology they have now is wild.
....They're also $16,000 and I felt like I got gut punched when they told me. This isn't a one and done expense like...I have to keep doing this.

The average lifetime of a hearing aid? 6 years. And hearing aids aren't like cars where you can get a 5 year loan. They expect that shit up front: cash or credit. The office today deadass was like "we can split it between two credit cards if you need" 😭
