at some point when i was an impressionable young lad i heard some shit like “men think about sex every 7 seconds” and whether this was intended or not i was left with the impression that this was bad, so i decided to never think about sex
Conversation
anyway that was dumb. i’m gonna think about sex every 7 seconds now as a bit

warming up to the term “neurotic feminism” as a description of the way i turned presumably well-intentioned feminist memes into my own personal mental, emotional, and somatic prison growing up

me and a lot of people i know sure do love ruining our own lives by making up rules about what we aren't allowed to do and then following them straight into a ditch

i also had another rule where i couldn’t sexually fantasize about anyone i knew, which included my girlfriends 😅 it sounds silly but i have had to slowly work my way towards feeling allowed to have sexual fantasies, over the course of the last 5 or so years

I promised myself when I was 13 that I would never sexually fantasize about anyone I knew, and I kept that promise for 13 years. In relationships I tried to be a rom-com lead - charming words, big gestures, declarations of love, etc. It sort of worked, but not for long.

I did this when I was in school arghh
(no girlfriend though)
sort of because I was afraid I would accidentally mention it while talking to those people, which seemed the most terrifying thing in the world

well that’s what i was thinking too at the time but it contributed to this whole vast sexual repression thing that was just super bad for me overall, and for my partners. it reinforces the idea that sex or wanting to have sex is somehow fundamentally degrading
