so what's up with the trope where children have access to magic and then lose it as a prerequisite to growing up? where does it come from, what is it for?

Raising my kid in such a way that they didn't lose their belief in magic was a huge priority for me. Now my 25-year-old still sees the magic in life! We celebrate it all the time ❤️
