guys can we talk about this completely insane thread where oxytocin nasal spray apparently makes an autistic guy not autistic temporarily? i'm gonna be fucked up about this for days

here's a fascinating document i discovered by accident yesterday. it's a case report written by an autistic redditor, with all the expected writing mannerisms such status imparts, of what happened after he was given an oxytocin nasal spray prescription. archive.is/UgNfp

hmm interesting. i could imagine there are people who are like sort of critically poised for a single intervention to have dramatic effects on their entire system so they're the ones who have these really big dramatic stories

now *that's* even more interesting. reminds me of this:

"I've been doing this guided meditation for months, w/ body scanning, etc. Good stuff." Me in my head: beginning meditator "I tried this guided meditation, & it was ok. I tried it again the next day & it didn't work at all. What the fuck" Me: intermediate or advanced meditator
the body i think wants to maintain the integrity of oxytocin as a meaningful signal and if it keeps not being a signal of what it's sposed to i think the body will attempt to correct that somehow. this is vague but roughly consistent with my experience regularly using melatonin
