It seems like people who find the “empath” irritating mostly strike at 1) where it comes from, or 2) whether they’re accurate about the others’ feelings…
But, like, why does this bother people so much? What’s the common bad experience that I’m missing?
i think it's easy to read claiming the empath label as asserting something like "i have a cool special ability that you don't and that makes me better than you"
Yeah I’ve never heard someone sling it as identity, defense, or pride, so it’s hard for me to hear it that way (though there are lots of people out there, so im sure its out there, probably easy to find on TikTok or something)
