it's not more popular because it directly attacks one of the foundational memes making capitalism work if people stop caring about money they'll stop taking terrible jobs for money on a more personal level: "well then what did i waste my life on terrible jobs for"

capitalism would be fine. if ppl start wanting/needing less money then you have some combination of working conditions improving, salaries going up, automation, and removal of no longer profitable jobs. great! besides, the worst jobs are already for ppl with the least choice
