Every time I see someone going “I had to take risks to follow the urgings of my soul, and it worked for me! It will for you too!” It is followed at some point by “I left my job and home with nought but my meager 6-figure savings and a network of supportive family and friends”

I mean, good on you for having all that— But probably mention it up front when you’re talking to people who are poor and estranged from their families. Don’t give these kids the idea you walked off into the sunset with a bindle and some moxy.

(This is me reading like the 500th book where the guy spends a lot of time up front emphasizing how much risky and uncertainty he dealt with, and how this means you can do it to… then casually dropping in a sentence 2/3 of the way through that reveals he had $$$$$$)
