just figured out that the way I conceptualize goals and time is entwined in a very dysfunctional way with a bunch of hacks I've used to compensate for adhd it actually makes me even less inclined to ever use punishments or rewards that are unrelated to the action, w/ my kids

I think this strategy is maybe a common failure mode at least, my mom does it too I shall outline the process below:

A2. there are only two types of actions 1. critical 2. pointless there are no other levels of urgency or importance

A4. if I find myself wanting to do pointless actions, I can either: 1. earn them by doing all of the critical ones first 2. convince myself they're actually critical
