we gotta agree on a word/term for when you have a conditioned feeling/behavior pattern, and then you meditate a certain way/do psychedelics intentionally etc, & then you no longer have that conditioned pattern.
"purging" sounds kinda gross. "deprogramming"? "deconditioning"?

i get the sense that "deprogramming" has a lineage going back to the hippies but personally i find it kinda gross and slightly objectifying. i like "deconditioning"

yeah i like "deconditioning" (i think i first saw it in 's bio) too because it doesnt have an implicit value judgement (IME negative value judgments are a hindrance to actually doing it!)

the main reservation i have about it is that it brings up connections to behavioral / operant conditioning and i think "real conditioning" goes deeper than either of those. tied to questions of "what do i have to do to belong" etc.
true. i think in general most people don't intuitively get how deep "conditioning" goes. like i've been using that word for a while, sometimes in irl friend circles who don't usually talk about this kind of thing, & they'll be like "oh yeah i always have to get on my phone when--

i wake up" and in my head i'm like "heh yeeeah but not just that kinda thing i'm literally referring to your entire meaning-making/self-defining system and all the beliefs and behaviors that encompass it ๐
" but rarely wanna go that deep irl :P
