you can just quietly block people you dont like. you dont need to seek approbation for it

"approbation" isnt quite the right word; i think "consensus" is getting at what matters to me more
you dont need permission from anyone else to dislike or block someone, or any rationale for doing so beyond "because"
so announcements about this sort of thing seem unnecessary

actually ime i’ve (privately) been like “yeah that guy sucks i blocked / muted him awhile ago” and it’s helped other people be like “oh phew that’s a relief now i feel more permission to dislike / block / mute them”
