Not necessarily metaphor. I don't have ADHD but have dated men who do. I'm not unattractive but not hot either + am also low-drama. After awhile this makes me completely ignorable--an ex confessed that he felt like he literally couldn't see me (it certainly felt that way to me).

I also have major exception to this rule that I'm still trying to figure out: last bf was very ADHD but made me feel the most loved and connected I ever felt. I don't think he had Asperger's but I would say most of the others did. So it may be the combo that makes things harder.
