This is gonna sound dumb but can anyone explain to me what tantra actually is? Like is it a practice, a modality of meditation, a philosophy, a sexual thing or a life thing, a catch-all category for some combination.....?
so a big part of the confusion in the west is there is like "westernized tantra" that has its roots afaik in the hippies and is like the westernized chinese food of tantra 😅 then there's more "authentic" asian traditions, tibetan or hindu
just occurred to me that i'm pretty sure the first time i heard the phrase "tantric sex" was elaine on seinfeld talking about having sex without orgasm when i was like 12
I would say tantra is not even a thing at all, it’s like “art” (as in “the art of war”) or “philosophy”. Shitposting might be translated as Anus Tantra. Everyone is sooo hung up on making it a Thing lmfao just live your life and drink your tea
