hello twitter serious q: does anyone know anything about curing dog and cat allergies? i really want to play with dogs and cats more but my eyes get itchy as shit even if i take antihistamines. i heard there are allergy shots that work over years but uh... anything faster?

allergy shots are a huge pain in the ass but they do work...for like a decade and then you have to do it again 😿

I have awful cat allergies and have been totally fine with my Siberean cats. They produce less of the protein humans are allergic to, and some cat breeders will even send you a clump of fur so you can test your sensitivity before buying. They're also super cute.

Woah, I've never heard of breeders doing that, that's so cool. Now I need to look up local breeders...

I get a really bad reaction with some new cats and dogs (after literally rubbing my face on them), then if I have contact again the next day, symptoms are gone. Do you get repeat exposure with any animals?

oh huh interesting. the last one was new, i've had repeat exposures before but it's been bad every time. but this is interesting food for thought
