he had the mandate of heaven and then he lost it. my favorite ones were always the really early ones full of heart and longing and he stopped doing that :/

it's hard and i would never blame him for anything but (if I may be so bold) that guy needs some kids. kids do crazy things to your brain, I'd love to see him explore fatherhood in his comic

i mean his wife got cancer which i assume complicated that and also complicated his relationship to his feelings :/
